Project Approved, New Domains, Day Care for Orson

The good news is my data warehouse project has been approved and we’re going full steam ahead. I was hoping that would happen because I really wanted to finish this project. Also the experience I’ll get will be invaluable. I hate starting something and not finishing it.
So I’ve been contemplating buying brianjarrett.net and brianjarrett.org for some time now, but Register.com charges $35.00 per domain for one year so that makes it just too expensive. Multiple years end up being a little less but you have to come up with all the money up front. Then I decided to check out domain registrars and found a new site: Dynonames.com. They offer domains for about $8.00 per year. I couldn’t believe it. They do the same thing that register.com does. So I bought brianjarrett.net and brianjarrett.org for two years for a total of $36.00. I’ll soon be switching brianjarrett.com over to Dynonames as well (for $8.00). Both new domains point to this site; I just wanted to get them before anybody else did.
I’ve been continually modifying and adding content to the site, just as I promised. It’s actually fun again now that I’ve gotten into it. I even bought a new book on html 4 which includes xhtml and cascading style sheets. I’m pleased with the overall design and look of the site now that it’s been a week or so since I started this project. I just redesigned the “Sign the Guestbook” page to look more consistent with the rest of the site; that was one of the last pages that needed work. I think all the old pages have been reworked now.
Orson is doing great. He’s gaining more weight all the time (which is what we want) and he’s getting more fun every day. Other than occasionally power-puking all over me we’re having no problems. I also added some new pictures today; as always you can check those out by clicking on “Photo Gallery” in the main menu.
More good news: we finally decided on a day care for Orson. Traci goes back to work in August and it just doesn’t make financial sense for her to quit. So we found a Montessori school that was accepting new babies and we signed him up this past Thursday. That’s a relief because we weren’t sure exactly where he was going to go. He’ll be six months old by the time day care starts so at least he won’t be a newborn baby. We liked everybody we met there and their inspection record was fine. When he gets a little older it’ll actually be like school with field trips, classroom work, and home work. Better to get him used to it early on.
That’s really about all for now. My project is back on again, my website now doesn’t suck as badly, I saved a ton of money on domain registration, Orson and Traci are doing great, the beagles are okay, and we found a day care for Orson. It really doesn’t get any better than this.
