Islam…A Religion of Kindness and Tolerance???

Supposedly Islam is supposed to be a religion of kindness and tolerance but all I see on the news is bigotry, hatred, fanaticism, and intolerance. It’s amazing to me that a Muslim cleric can call for the death of a person because said person converts to another religion. I’m no fan of organized religion, including Christianity, but if Muslims truly are tolerant and loving then how is it acceptable to incite murder? I’m assuming, of course, that the clerics are the representatives of Islam, the “face”, so to speak. I mean, aren’t they the most pious of all Muslims?
And this is happening in Afganistan; our supposed model for democracy and freedom in the Arab world.
Of course, maybe I’m only seeing the embarrassing (and frightening) minority. All I can do is hope that’s true. Honestly, I’m not so much afraid of terrorists, at least not in the traditional sense. I’m truly more afraid of the cull of Islamic recruitment, especially in third world countries, sweeping through and creating vast numbers of mindless drones, hanging intently on the every whim of clerics with less than righteous motives. The apparent lack of critical thinking within this faith is one of the most frightening things I can think of.
Of course a world ruled by the Vatican would be equally as frightening.
