Tool in Kansas City

Tool
So we went to see Tool in Kansas City, MO on Friday, September 15. Of course, it was an awesome show; no surprise there. Maynard had been sick for about a week and had cancelled another show a couple days before the K.C. show. Luckily he was feeling better by the time they rolled through K.C. and we were able to see them. They opened with “Stinkfist” and played a lot of stuff off the new album. Highlights for me were “The Pot”, “Vicarious”, “Jambi”, and “Schism”. “Wings For Marie/10,000 Days” was great as was “Aenima”, “Lateralus”, and “Rosetta Stoned”. We were in row “Z” but it wasn’t completely in the back; row “JJ” was as far back as it went. During “Rosetta Stoned” we called Dave and Amy (my best friend in WV and his wife) and let them listen to a couple minutes of the show.

After the show was over we sat in traffic outside the arena for at least a half hour. We called Dave and Amy and they said they were going the following Thursday to see them in Columbus. Aside from some crazy bitch and her stupid boyfriend blowing the horn at us in traffic (they were from Kansas, maybe boredom causes aggressive behavior) we got out okay. We drove straight through, stopping only for a late, late dinner at Waffle House before arriving home around 5:00 a.m.

I’m glad we went, despite being in the nose bleed section. It was still worth it, every penny and every minute. I think they’ll probably be through St. Louis this spring so we’ll go see them again then but this time we’ll be on the floor. I’m looking forward to it already.
