SquirrelMail Back From the Brink?

After doing a bit of research I’ve discovered that there are big changes in the works for SquirrelMail. Recently I’ve raved about the RoundCube project and lamented the current state (and bleak future) of my beloved SquirrelMail. It took some digging but I’ve found the current 1.5 roadmap (on the road toward 2.0) for SquirrelMail and it looks promising. It appears that the development team is implementing a new template architecture which will allow the UI to be completely detached from the core code base.
