Tool in St. Louis

Finally, after months of waiting, Tool made it to St. Louis last night. This show was a little different than the one we saw in Kansas City; they played Right In Two instead of Aenima and they played up the laser show during Wings For Marie/10,000 Days. We were a little closer this time but still further away than I would prefer. Unfortunately that’s unavoidable; the days of seeing Tool at small venues (like we did in 1996) are over. The band is just too big for those places now. The place was apparently sold out; I couldn’t see any sections that looked empty.
The opening band was okay; not the worst but not the best. I think they were called Melt Banana. The worst opener they ever had was in 1996 on the Aenima tour when Psychotica opened. In Kansas City Isis opened but we got there right after they wrapped up their set and didn’t get a chance to hear them. Oh well, we came for Tool anyway.
Tool was, of course, awesome. Just the best ever. Each time I see them I’m reminded why they are the best rock band in the history of history.
Maybe, just maybe, I’ll get to see them again. I’m trying to convince Traci that we should see them in Huntington, WV. We could then combine it with a family/friend visit; kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. We’ll see how that plays out.
FACT: Chuck Norris doesn't have hair on his testicles, because hair does not grow on steel.
