Back From The Dead

Well, I’m back from the dead, or so it would appear. I haven’t really updated for while, primarily because I’ve just been so busy. The main reason for this, of course, is because of the new baby. Trent is doing very well and I’ve been tracking his progress on his website. I’ve also been keeping up to date with Orson’s progress as well (we don’t want to forget him). The first six weeks or so were very, very hard; not because he’s a problem baby but because of the nature of raising babies, the time it takes to do it, and starting my new job. I wouldn’t recommend starting a new job at the same time as having a baby but unfortunately you can’t always have everything happen according to your schedule. The opportunity came along and if I would have passed it up it would have been one of the stupidest things I’d ever done. The new job has panned out beautifully so far and I’m really glad I jumped on it when I did. They were very understanding of the new baby and were accommodating.

It’s funny; it seems as if each time I start a new job I have another baby! Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way it’s tough but, in the end, it’s worth it.

The new job. Ah, yes. The new job. What can I say? I’m extremely pleased with how it turned out. It’s also very nice to be fairly compensated for a change and to actually feel like I’m a person again. There are many things I liked about CPI, most of them being before Knightspoint took over, but ultimately they just didn’t place as much value on what I did as I thought the market demanded. Long story short, someone else came along with a better offer. I hated having to leave my group because they were some of the best I’ve ever worked with; unfortunately it was more beneficial for me and my family that I leave.

But it’s not just compensation, there’s a different culture at my new place. It’s palpable and tangible and it’s positive. Sure, every place has problems but it now seems like we’re working on fixing them rather than just ignoring them. I’ve had too many 1000 pound gorillas in the room during meetings so I’m glad to see that going by the wayside at the new place. But I don’t want to go on and on; CPI and I just couldn’t come to an agreement that worked for both parties so we eventually parted ways. Unfortunately that’s the way it goes sometimes.

On a lighter note, I used money I received for my birthday earlier in February to buy another wii controller and a new game. This one is called Carnival Games and it is just that: carnival games. It’s really fun and it was about $10 cheaper than a normal game. Also now I only need to buy one nunchuk and I’ll have four complete controllers for the wii. I’d like to maybe pick up another game or two, probably the new Rayman games and possibly Mario Party. I haven’t decided yet. Maybe I should check out a used game store. Probably cheaper. Now that we’re settling in with Trent I’m hoping we’ll have more time to play the damn thing.

Honestly, between work, the kids, and maintaining the house I haven’t had time for much else. It’s all I can do to keep up with Quicken, the photos, and the websites as it is. It’s getting better but things are still hectic. At least I finally got around to updating this site!
