The New New Kia
Monday, July 18th, 2005 at 10:50 am
After owning the Kia for two weeks I realized I bought the wrong car. Well, actually I bought the right car with the wrong features. Remember all that talk about the inability to find after market wheels? Well, that was the tip of the iceberg.
So, as a last resort, I headed back to the dealer to see if we could make a deal. The good news is, we did. They took the car back with a generous trade-in and sold me the model I should have bought in the …read more »
Keyless Entry Rules!
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 at 1:18 pm
I just got the keyless entry and alarm system installed and it rules! I love being able to push a button and get into my car. When I start the car up the doors lock and when I turn the ignition off the doors unlock, all automatically. I’m now 31 and I haven’t had keyless entry, power windows, cruise control or anything like that ever since I’ve been driving so this is a big deal for me. What are standard features to most people are luxuries to me.
Although I’m pleased with the new Kia Sorento overall I’m a little disappointed in one thing: it’s virtually impossible to find aftermarket wheels for it. The problem is that although the bolt pattern is fine the offset is weird. Now, I spoke with the guy at the local Firestone …read more »

Cookie Monster Goes Soft, Orson Gets A Cold, House Fever
Tuesday, May 24th, 2005 at 12:00 am
I don’t watch the news too much; it either depresses me or pisses me off. Local news is boring and the national news, well, I can only hear about so many American soldiers dying in Iraq in one day. Between the suicide bombers, kidnappings, beheadings, and just plain killing in the name of Allah I’ve had my fill of the whole, messy thing. But, every so often, I hear a story that catches my attention, one that makes me smile even. There’s something about
Orson Gets a “Web Presence”
Friday, May 13th, 2005 at 12:00 am
So, I did it; I bought Orson his own domain: OrsonJarrett.com. [This has now been replaced by a subdomain on the family website] I know, I know, it’s nerdy. I want to use it to keep my family and friends up to date on Orson’s progress and achievements,at least at first. After he gets older it can be a bonding opportunity with his dad; we can work together to build his very own website. He’ll be the envy of other little nerds when he tells them ‘I’ve got my own website’. Hell, he’ll even have his own e-mail address @orsonjarrett.com. How many other brats have that? At $8.00 a year per domain (Dynonames.com) it’s hard to find a reason not to do it. I set up a little page for the time being that just redirects back to his photo gallery and to my web page. Now that I finally have named virtual hosts working under Apache (which took about six hours of frustration to accomplish) I can host multiple websites …read more »
New Car Bug, etc.
Thursday, April 21st, 2005 at 9:14 am
I had the bug to buy a new car last week but I successfully resisted the urge (with the help of my wife). Now that I know Orson’s day care/preschool is going to be so expensive I’m glad I resisted. I’d still like a new car but I don’t want the loan. I’ll just wait until Traci’s car is paid off first. Besides, I’d rather have Orson in a place I trust where he’ll excel, instead of hanging out in some cheap ass day care …read more »
