Tool in St. Louis

Tool Finally, after months of waiting, Tool made it to St. Louis last night. This show was a little different than the one we saw in Kansas City; they played Right In Two instead of Aenima and they played up the laser show during Wings For Marie/10,000 Days. We were a little closer this time but still further away than I would prefer. Unfortunately that’s unavoidable; the days of seeing Tool at small venues (like we did in 1996) are over. The band is just too big for those places now. The place was apparently sold out; I couldn’t see any sections that looked empty.

The opening band was okay; not the worst but not the best. I think they were called …read more »

Chevelle & Finger Eleven

So we saw Chevelle and Finger Eleven at Pop’s last night and they were awesome. Finger Eleven did not disappoint; they played most of the good stuff off all their older albums and only the good stuff off the new album. Luckily my …read more »

Killswitch Engage Baby!

Killswitch Engage

I just bought the new Killswitch Engage album As Daylight Dies and it’s freakin’ awesome. It’s actually better than I thought it would be. They seem to be able to find a happy medium between heavy melodic and thrash. Funny, when I was nineteen a girl I worked with told me that I’d be listening to country music

Tool in Kansas City

Tool
So we went to see Tool in Kansas City, MO on Friday, September 15. Of course, it was an awesome show; no surprise there. Maynard had been sick for about a week and had cancelled another show a couple days before the K.C. show. Luckily he was feeling better by the time they rolled through K.C. and we were able to see them. They opened with “Stinkfist” and played a lot of stuff off the new album. Highlights for me were “The Pot”, “Vicarious”, “Jambi”, and “Schism”. “Wings For Marie/10,000 Days” was great as was “Aenima”, “Lateralus”, and “Rosetta Stoned”. We were in row “Z” but it wasn’t completely in the back; row “JJ” was as far back as it went. During “Rosetta Stoned” we …read more »

Disaster Recovery

It’s been a while since I posted; I got caught up weekend before last in a data disaster recovery here at home. Unfortunately I had severe data corruption occur on my file server and partial file corruption on my backup drive. I hadn’t updated some of my DVD backups in a while so I spent about four days struggling to recover my data. Luckily I only lost minor stuff; all of the important stuff was backed up somewhere. I’d been waiting on buying a second backup disk which would have prevented these issues.

So I, the King of All Backups, got burned. I made lots of …read more »

R.I.P. Dimebag

I cannot believe that Dimebag Darrell is dead. I mean, I wasn’t the biggest Pantera fan but the guy was a good guitar player. I’m not a huge metal fan but speed metal is closely related to the kind of music I like so it hits home pretty hard. I’ve been to many, many rock concerts and have never heard of anything like this happening before. I believe it’s truly an isolated incident and not characteristic of the metal scene. You really never know what one crazy guy is going to do. Pantera had …read more »
