Tool in St. Louis
Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at 5:04 pm
Finally, after months of waiting, Tool made it to St. Louis last night. This show was a little different than the one we saw in Kansas City; they played Right In Two instead of Aenima and they played up the laser show during Wings For Marie/10,000 Days. We were a little closer this time but still further away than I would prefer. Unfortunately that’s unavoidable; the days of seeing Tool at small venues (like we did in 1996) are over. The band is just too big for those places now. The place was apparently sold out; I couldn’t see any sections that looked empty.
The opening band was okay; not the worst but not the best. I think they were called …read more »

Disaster Recovery
Wednesday, August 9th, 2006 at 9:28 pm
It’s been a while since I posted; I got caught up weekend before last in a data disaster recovery here at home. Unfortunately I had severe data corruption occur on my file server and partial file corruption on my backup drive. I hadn’t updated some of my DVD backups in a while so I spent about four days struggling to recover my data. Luckily I only lost minor stuff; all of the important stuff was backed up somewhere. I’d been waiting on buying a second backup disk which would have prevented these issues.
So I, the King of All Backups, got burned. I made lots of …read more »
R.I.P. Dimebag
Thursday, December 9th, 2004 at 12:00 am
I cannot believe that Dimebag Darrell is dead. I mean, I wasn’t the biggest Pantera fan but the guy was a good guitar player. I’m not a huge metal fan but speed metal is closely related to the kind of music I like so it hits home pretty hard. I’ve been to many, many rock concerts and have never heard of anything like this happening before. I believe it’s truly an isolated incident and not characteristic of the metal scene. You really never know what one crazy guy is going to do. Pantera had …read more »
